I was walking along the beach in Santa Barbara and came across these. There is one cross for every American solder who has died in the Iraq war.

Needs a bit more white in the cross to punch it up a bit (seems to be a bit of a colour cast reflecting off the sand), but still a striking image.

Beautiful image. The tones are spot on and the composition adding to the mood.

I can't wait to read the back-story on this one.

OMG, could you please give me some backgroud on this photo. I think I have an idea.... It is brining a tear to my eye and a frog in my throat...This is something that should be in the NY times, CNN year end photos!
This is an unexpected find for me to find on my screne!!! 10
Thank you.

Good and deep photo; it has a message. I like (and don't like!) the repetition of graves in the backgroud. One wouldn't expect to find the person that one loves among all of the graves. I would suggest black and white and contrast. The sky is a bit distracting.

The cross is looking on the left so I would expect it to be more on the right side... otherwise it's pretty cool.

Love the angle you took this out. Very clear too.
