While out and about, the wife and I found a really nice abandoned house. The downstairs had a myriad of different types of rooms, vinyl floors with stucco walls, wooden walls with concrete floors, tile floors with wallpapered walls... etc. Imagine my surprise to find the upstairs rooms hardwood floors, walls, and ceilings. Turned out to be a great opportunity.

nice work, AJ. really dig the empty feeling that comes with this...i get a sense of the place and can almost feel the heat and smell the dust. There's lots of cool textures in the room which you could probably bring out with a little extra post processing; contrast in the shadows, sharpening etc.

top 20 in your second challenge, huh? dayum...Jen betta watch out. ;)

great feel; perfect item to be in that room; this looks like a lot of other photos; but you got it all right here.

Great photo, the lighting and the object work well, with the sense of nostalgia.

Some overexposure, but this is a nice scene.

excellent idea, but the image could use some work. the exposure is off (and i know how tough it was, just to get it this far). also, i'm not a big fan of eye-level perspectives--it's just too easy to hold a camera to your eye from where you stand.

Lovely. The horse "feels" right in this old room. Light from the window is a bit harsh.

with the horse in the corner, just catching the light IMO would have been more powerful....

Without the distracting debris on the floor, would have scored a 10 from me. With it... a 7

excellent lighting...would have liked to see a bit more sharpness in the window frame and wall, but very evocative
