I picked the song Mother Nature's Son. I figured it wouldn't be one everyone was doing. Plus, I really liked the lyrics.

Mother Nature's Son
Born a poor young country boy –
Mother Nature’s son.
All day long I’m sitting singing songs for everyone.
Sit beside a mountain stream – see her waters rise.
Listen to the pretty sound of music as she flies.
Find me in my field of grass –
Mother Nature’s son.
Swaying daisies sing a lazy song beneath the sun.
Mother Nature’s son.

This is my brother. I was supposed to go out and shoot this weekend with a friend of mine. I had the perfect shot in my head... but my friend never called me. So, my brother called tonight and asked if he could stop by... I told him only if he brought his guitar. We drove around with my step-dad at 7:30 and found this field. We ran in, shot some pictures and wah-lah!

I cloned out a fence in the distance and a few blades of grass on his pants, upped the levels a bit, dropped the saturation, and bumped up the contast. Then added a border.

This isn't what I had in mind, and I plan on shooting it again sometime. This time, in a nicer field... with an acoustic guitar.

I don't expect to do too well... but here's hoping.

You can find a fully contrasted shot/outtake here:

Eric, thank you for the wonderful critique.

I know it looks a bit flat... I decided to drop the saturation on this photo... it didn't speak to me in the same way as the fully contrasted one.

Hey there from the Critique Club

Camera Work/Technical: Very nice. Your subject's focus is very crisp and he was nicely isolated off the background with a great depth of field.

Lighting: Your lighting here looks a little flat and hazy. I See that you upped the contrast some, but I think it could have used even more. A slight s curve in curves adjustments would have given this one a great edge.

Composition/Content: While tilted horizons usually drive me nuts, I like this one. It works well to give the image a nice flow up to your subject.

My Opinion: Nice job meeting the challenge and produce a well-deserved 6+ image.

Eric

This is the best of the entries for that lyric!

You certainly suit those lyrics with this shot. I'd like to see some levels adjustment to really enhance and enrich the overall tones. I like the guy's placement in the shot.
