Hi!

the colours are nice here especially the water. Nice rule of thirds. The only thing that bothers me is the tractor in the foreground. That dark spot takes the attention away from the sun.

Greetings from CTP2

Striking colors which is what you want to see in a sunset shot. Also good job controlling the highlights. Overall a good job there. The main thing holding this back in my opinion is the cityscape in the background. It's just a bit drabby with no interesting architecture. Also that construction truck isn't helping. Not that you could do much about any of that with this shot. Still a strong image and one that met the challenge pretty well.

Greetings from your own critique club.

First Impression
Very Nice Sunrise shot.
Composition:
Nice composition. I like the horizon following rule of third.
Subject:
Nice choice of subject for the challenge. If I am not wrong there are other couple of entriies with the same theme.
Technical (Colour and light):
Colors and light is perfect for this one.
Improvement:
The hallo around the Sun and the on the edge of the building needs to be avoided. Don't know if the hallo is due to PP or it was there in the original.
Summary:
Nice sunrise picture, would have scores high with just little improvement.

Cheers!! Keep shooting.

Greetings from CTP2 Gunnsi
First impression

Beautiful sunrise (or sunset). Good colours, lack of details and a tractor in the foreground.
What can you do better
IMO there is to much empty space above the sun, a different crop would have helped there. Stand in a place where there are no distracting things like a tractor in the foreground. Zoom a bit more in so that there will be more details in the houses.

hi from ctp2:

Hi Alex,
This is a 'nice' shot, but super 'grabbing' if that makes sense. The colors are pretty, but something about it is a little distracting. Nothing really stands out, except maybe the pier, which isn't really the focus of the picture. I like the sky and the cityscape quite a bit, though.

CTPII!
Hey dude. My crit for this particular shot is going to be a reversal of my crit on your previous shot.
Sunrises and sunsets are great choices for a subject. However, what's lacking in this particular shot is color punch. There's little color and tonal variations in here. Also, a tighter crop would help, IMO, as it would've given the shot "more focus".
There's also a little fringing/haloing all over the photo. Dude, ease up a bit on sharpening. Or use smart-sharpen.

Hi Alex!

Ahh, one of my challenge twins! Congrats on picking such a fine title for your entry ;-)

I can't say I don't like the concept, but I think the sunrises and sunsets probably gave the voters the impression that the entries were shoehorned in.

From a more technical perspective, it's a rather dull sunrise, with little texture and color variation in the sky. The buildings along the shore are rather uninteresting, and the pier(?) in the foreground is really distracting.
