always wanted to try this ...
1teas,salt & water in a balloon - one wire trigger on the needle, one in the balloon
could have had a bit more of a delay 5-10ms would have been more spectacular
out of 5 flashes i tried with only the AB400 & the Nikon(s) would work with the salt water - the whitelighting/Norman/vivitar would not triger ..

ok- re looking at this i'm sure the white lines are from water spray- the length of the flash is so long you see the water coming out at the split in the balloon ...

roughly 4 of 8 ballons worked as planned - equipment failure
messed up the others (tomany flashes/ or /no flash ) 2were grossly out of focus (operator error) .. :(

need to modify/make a timer to adjust the trigger ...

crop usm curve + saturation
saddly i did mis-frame this one ..

I have no idea what that is, but I like it :)

I think you took the picture slightly too soon. Seeing the balloon starting to burst would have been an exciting picture.

Very abstract! I love the pink.

I keep trying to figure this image out. I think it's a balloon, but I can't get the darker line of red across it. The glare spot is rather distracting. Good idea for the challenge through and great title.

Great capture - I really like the "sparks" coming off the left side. Clever title.

How is this failure?

This one produces a great sense of anticipation. I am left waiting to see the water fall. I think I'd like to see it just an instant later with the balloon popped, but the water retaining the shape.

the blown out spot from the flash/light is an eyesore in your pic. otherthan that its still good

ok, took me a minute, now I think this is a balloon being pricked? would have been better with just a hand and needle, the contraption you made with pencil and wire detracts from photo, nice idea though

Wow...I'm sure this deserves a high score but I can't be sure. It looks as though you caught the ballon as is was being poped but I can't really be sure.

Perhaps if you had shot this a second or two later to get the explosion it would have more impact.

Sorry but I donĀ“t get what I am looking at here, so this shot makes no sense to me. When shooting something like this, try to put yourself in the voters place who were not at the scene when you took this. Having something easily recognizable in scale would help.
