 I burned some bred in my toaster and made a grumpy face in one of them. Didn't come out as I expected. Need to practice on my lighting skills.

Greetings from the critique club,

Congratulations on such a funny and emotive shot. I think this is one of the higher scores I have seen for a shot that is not grain-free and technially perfect ala DPC standards. Here are my comments.

I like that the shot has grain and some technical imperfections. I think it fits the mood of the image. I like the blur on the toast popping up and the somewhat disorganized light sources. It all works really well for this image. Of course, the shadow makes the shot, and it is perfect. I even like the double shadow from the multiple light sources.

I always try to have some constructive ideas for improving, and it was hard with this shot. Although I like the motion blur on the toast, I think that your shallow DOF makes the focus a little bit off. Compositionally, I think maybe I would have cropped off a little more toaster. I think this would look great as a contrasty black and white print.

OMG, :D, amazing catch! I don't know how you did it but this is a unique picture. I can see the failure but I can't stop laughing, very controversial. Congratulations for a very creative picture!

This has got to be one of the neatest shadows I have ever seen. I think I see Mary...post it on ebay...j/k, but that'll probably draw some death threats. I like the idea and the composition, but the focus seems to be a bit off all around. Also, a faster shutter would have served better to stop the toast more crisply. I still can't get over that shadow. Great capture. More focus and this would have been a top 20 for sure.

Very cute how you made the toast look like a face. Too bad there is a double shadow there. I also wish the toast were in focus. Creative, thoguh!
