Shot this weekend at Sasca Montana, Romania. In a gap between the stones from the wall a titmouse has made his nest. The snake was going out for hunting, sneaking from his hidding place. But, no chance! The titmouse was faster and banished him away. Absolute hunt failure! Dissapointed because I haven't got a telephoto lens :(

* Greetings from the Critique Club *

As mentioned by numerous people here, what an amazing photo to capture. A sort of once in a lifetime opportunity!

For my liking what affects it the most here is the crop you have used. There's a lot of wasted space to the lower left of the bird which is a bit unnecessary. I would of cropped more in on the bird and the snake to get better impact.

I also find that the overall picture just lacks a little contrast. It's missing the 'pop' to make it a real standout. The lighting is good and your focus isn't too bad considering the situation.

Good effort and best of luck in future challenges. Keep it up!

Neil

Is it the snake or the bird? Subject is nicely focused

Who's hunting who?

Took me awhile to see the snake. Looks like they are both thinking... "Hmmm, potential food for a week!" Interesting nature photo. Would have liked this more with a closer crop perhaps with the bird and snake nearly filling the frame.

This is a truly amazing image. The mere fact that you managed to capture this moment is remarkable. I am sitting here wondering which of the two is the hunter. Great work.

Not sure how you happened to capture a shot like this...but well done!

And then what happened?

Now this is a capture of impeccable timing. The focus feels a little soft and I don't quite see the failure. Still, this is a pretty nice image.

Wow what a find! There is a bit too much movement or it is not quite in focus but kudos for a neat capture.
