Crop, color balance, contrast, saturation, unsharp mask, Neat Image.

This photo is, I believe, quite ironically doomed to failure. I predict a score in the low fives.

As noted above, I did not expect this one to do well. This was more of a study in lighting technique than anything else. No glare on the glass - I'm rather pleased with that.

First impression:

Good focus and a funny title. Looks like everything is floating in the air!
What can you do better?
If things were to look like they were floating in the air, you could have arranged the plate more skewed but if it was not, you should have used similar plates and shoot with a different angle so that the plates do not look like they are not leveled the same way.
There is to much light on the white of the lemons. I have had that problem too.

* Greetings from the Critique Club *

Interesting photo you have here Rebecca. I was reading your comments you made about the glare on the glass and yes, you've managed to avoid any distracting elements in that respect. I'm curious to know what type of lighting you used here?

The colours seem to all balance nicely and the only real blown highlight to me appears to be the sugar in the spoon. You've chosen a nice DOF to keep the focus nice and even throughout.

I'm a big fan of plain backgrounds in photos (check my portfolio) and you've done well in that respect with a nice contrast between to subject and the background. I'm guessing the reason for the middle of the road score was the subject matter trying to fit the challenge perhaps?

You've got some great work in your portfolio. Keep them coming. Well done!

Hello from Álex, CTP MkII

First Impression: refreshing, now that summer is arriving to Spain...
Composition: well balanced
Subject: the subject is nice, maybe not directly related to the challenge what can reflect on score
Technical: good lignhting (with few parts blowned out), nice black BG, focus clear.
Improvement: improvements on lighting to avoid blown out
Summary: good eye predicting your score. Nice shot.

Its way better than my EXTREMELY last minute entry:)

The plates seem tlted away from eachother. Maybe mono-toned plates would have helped? The lighing is good though...

Nice still life image. I like the way the dark background contrasts and enhances the bright colors makes the photo have imediate impact. Well done!

Great idea, creative. The lighting is harsh.
