This was my first idea for an entry and title for DPC Cinema. I felt it too bland and too much dead space and it would go over the head of the voters.

Although movie posters are this simplistic at times, where producers feel less is more to gain attention, I felt it would be voted down based on negative space. Seems either way, negative space or text added, very few appreciated the artistic values I tried to portray or were confused by them. In a way, I find that complimentary :)

Very cool shot. I think if I had voted on the challenge (which I didn't) I would have liked this one pretty well, but I am an artsy type anyway. You are right about the general opinions of most dpcers. They don't appreciate an artistic bent to photos, which is a shame, but I still want to do artsy shots anyway, and will continue to do so. I have noticed I vote a bit differently from most. I don't always choose 10s for the winning images. This one I would have probably given an 8 to. The one thing that might actually create a definite poster feel is if the background was changed to say maybe red. Then it would have a more pro feel to it.
