Last minute submission here. Throughout the day I attached my camera to various areas of my bike, this shot suited the challenge best. During one of the photoshoots the lens fell off while I was riding! Can't believe that it didn't even get a scratch on it even though it bounced a number of times along the road.

::: Critique Club :::

Hi, my name is Kari and from the critique club.

First Impression - the most important one:
Fellow riders UNITE!! ... great shot .. when I looked through the challenge I was wondering how the hell this was done .... congrats.

Composition:
I like this the speed feeling the clarity that the focus is true on the bike .. and that people are truely led to look at where you are going. My only question would have been could there have been more on the right side of the pic ... to have a person drawn in a taken with the journey so to say.

Subject:
Meets the challenge .. to some it didn't and this hurt your score .. there is nothing in portraits that says you have to include the face .. and I am very extremely proud that your wore your helmit .. to have seen the face in the mirror would mean sacrificing safety and this should not be done.

Technical (Colour and light):
Great .. natural .. good levels.

To grow its vote?:
play it safe .. put in a face and make sure you don't challenge yourself.

Summary:
Well done .. great shot .. truely an environmental portrait.!

If you've got any questions about this critique, please feel free to contact me via the PM system.

Cheers

Kari

Normally I wouldn't have called this a portrait but the image is compelling - I need to reward this.

I think a portrait should include the face. Interesting angle and shot though.

I like the motion blur of the street quite a bit and you have a nice sharp shot of the rider. I think the photo might have more impact if the viewer could see the face of the model though.

Sorry, but an over the shoulder shot is not a portrait. Nice enviorment however.

This is a portrait? Nice pic though. I really like it on its own but it DNMC

Photograph a portrait that says something about the subject within the framework of their own environment.

AWESOME photo ! I love how the moving bike against the road gives the viewer a feeling of being on the bike, too. NICE !

This is a fun shot.
His/her face in the mirror would have made it perfect.

a portrait needs a face, IMO

Amazing angle and incredible clarity. Super shot. Not sure about the portrait bit really though. I have a dilemma, in that a conventional part of me wants to see a face and yet a more creative side can see the story here.
