Interesting - I just read over some of the comments and I have to disagree with quite a few. I like the light, and I like it blown. I like the motion of the hand caused by the slow shutter speed. Composition works very well, and I rather think the softness/lack of sharp focus lends itself nicely to this picture and its tone. |

Greetings from your own critique club.
First Impression
Nice shot.
Composition:
Good Composition.
Subject:
Nice, meets the challenge
Technical (Colour and light):
The focus is very soft on the faces. I don't know if it's over done in proceesing or not. Not sure if you use NI to reduce noise. But the focus in not there quite right on the faces.
Improvement:
Focus.
Summary:
Nice over all image lacking the proper focus or processing is over done.
Cheers!! Keep shooting. |

from da critique post II.
How goes it? Sorry this is a tad late but better then never yeah?
So, I really like this shot & its title. Its a nice candid capture. Some things I would do differently tho, are as follows:
- Settings on the cam- if I'm using a 1600 ISO, i would definitely use a faster shutter spped. In fact, I would use a 1/60 shutter spped. Would have avoided the hand trail in the gesture. Also, the lamp prolly wouldn't have been overexposed.
-Since the lamp was a but blown, I would have cropped it out or shot the scene from a different angle.
- Too much neat image or whatever noise remover yu used. It's overkill, at least fo rmy taste.
I do like the colours in the shot, it's deep, subtle & rich. All in all, it's good stuff!
Hope this helps.

hey there from ctp2:
I liked this shot a lot. The interaction between the two people is great, and the subject is interesting.
The blur caused by the man's hand movement is a little distracting. I like the lamp, and the glow that's cast from it, leading to the couple.
Nice shot. |

Greetings from Rebecca of your CTP2!
First, I will tell you that the color and tone is really nice. I liked that this was the rare shot with people in it.
However, I still think that the lamp is very distracting and would have cropped it out. Maybe even better would have been taking up a position more to the left, slightly in front of the couple and excluding the lamp.
It's a shame that there was so much motion in the shot, but I wonder if a shutter speed just one click faster might have helped a bit? I don't think that a slightly darker photo would have hurt the scene. But mostly I think it would have been better to use some models instead of attempting a night candid. They're near impossible.
A more expansive comment than the one I left during voting, eh? ;-) |

From the CTP MkII
First Impression: nice night candid.
Composition: I like it, he on the very right and she more centered.
Subject: wonderful. You take a good subject and original on the challenge. She seems so in love with him!
Technical: the colors are a bit desaturated, but I like them that way. The light in her is great, but in him is a bit too dark. The focus is the main flaw IMO. She is not very sharp.
Improvement: First of all, the sharpness. I know how difficult is in that low light conditions, but if you could achieved her with a tack sharp focus this photo would have bumped a lot its score. The other thing is about the light on the top; it's a bit distracting. I'm not sure but maybe if you could make it in landscape and left more space on the left. But that's just an opinion.
Summary: Very nice work. It's your second highest score, so it isn't so bad.

I like the feeling here. Good composition. The moment is captured nicely. The soft noise reduction? works well here. 7 |

digital cameras always have trouble coping with dark scenes, try and avoid photographing a direct source of light to prevent that 'faded' effect. Nice shot though (7) |

Very nice, a little too soft for my taste though. Oh, is that at Intramuros? |

I think this would work better if the light were cropped out. It's very distracting. |

Very original picture in this challenge. Very few people shots. The girl is captured perfectly. If not the slight blur I would say it is a top 5 picture (or maybe even with the small blur it is?). Good luck with this one. 9. |

Nice photo. Pleasant change from all the architecture and bridges. Has a great candid feel to it. The very bright light in the background is a bit distracting. |
