Meets the challenge but not clear why two bikes...suggests that he is really not desolate...someone else is there?

I love the colour and texture of the sand and the road and a great idea. However, you see at the top left hand corner where the road bends off? I would have like to see more on the left side of it as disappearing roads are always great in an image. At the same time, it would mean less of the shadowy and distracting area on the right which came help move the concentration more to the rider and bike.

However, well done. Good try. =)

nice but, not desolate enough

I think it would be more desolate looking without the bikes and person. Although it appears to be quite a lilfeless place, otherwise.

I would give you a nickel if you would remove one of the bikes. Great scenery for the challenge. 6

Good composition. I would suggest the his look direction should be in the same way as the perspective.

Nicely composed photo, but its seems a little oversharpened (IMHO).

The person looks too light to me... but the colors in the landscape are great.

personal view and personal understanding of the challenge word play into my liking the shot but finding the landscape fascinating, not desolate
also, I think of desolation as static and unmoving-this guy is on his way

Too bad it wasn't pouring down rain on this fellow.

Bad pixelation in this shot, unfortunately.
