| I don't desolation here...especially with the kite in the background. This also may be one where the sepia is not the best aplication. |

| The first thing I noticed was the crooked horizon line, but then it sort of compliments the feeling that Lillan had thrown herself on the sand in utter desolation as opposed to just napping, which the horizon could have easily suggested had it been straight. The kite in the background is a nice touch. I would have liked more contrast in the clouds, though. They sky does indeed look cloudy, but I think as they are one of the prominent features that is suppose to be supplying the drama, they should have been more dramatic. An interesting take on the challenge that is certainly a breath of fresh air from old buildings! |

| This is a powerful image of a child's desolation. It would not have been as gripping in living color. |

| I love the sepia tones on this. And the clarity is awesome. Poor Lillian though. I hate going to the beach on cloudy days. |

| Nice shot. I like it with the kite, but for this challenge, I think the kite takes away from the theme. |

| The kite in the background makes it hard for me to see this as anything that has to do with desolation. I do like the picture, but because of that, it will recieve a fairly low score from me. |
