Its a very impressive shot, and a nice idea for a title, but the flash is very strong and makes it look a little unnatural. Focus is spot on, with a good DOF.
Partly because of the flash, it seems very bright, and could do with some burning to darken some of the areas. Maybe also a lower angle, so it was more "at their level", less passive observer's birds-eye view.

Other than that, I think its a good shot of a hard subject, but the strong flash detracts from it somewhat.

pretty good shot, a bit oversaturated but a really nice image, amazing how you get the background so well oof with aperture of f16.
the coposition and lighting is good, focus is good and it's even an interesting subject.. good job :)

I liked this photo and gave it a 6. I would have scored it higher if the flash had not been so overpowering. Terrific subject matter and great capture. Colors on the birds' throats are amazing. Good focus.

Trading posts -

Did the parent robins damage you at all? I have been attacked several times by these vicious birds just from walking close to a tree with a nest in it. I gave you a 6 on this one. I think the title with the pic was kind of funny. You have pretty good sharpness on the birds and the colors on them are nice. The hsot overall seems a bit too bright. Some burning work on the nest could have toned down the brightness of it. A slightly darker feel would have been nice. I dont know whats on either side of the nest but a slightly wider crop on the sides and the top cropped down a bit more may have helped as well. The grass and bush seem saturated a bit too much and dont do much for the shot. I think you have a good shot here and with a little more refined processing you could have done much better. I still think you scored too low on this one.

Trading Post comment:
I liked the shot and could see a documentary movie on birds with this on the poster. Composition is good, and great catch with the mouths open! I gave it a 7. What may have hurt your score is it seems a bit too bright, like it's a bit overexposed - did you use a flash?

I thought this was fantastic. I gave you an 8 during voting. The sharpness and DOF is excellent. The top bird with the mouth open is so extreme, love it. I really can't believe that you didn't score higher.

I really like this one, but your flash is a bit harsh. Great subjects and excellent depth of field. Perhaps difficult, but I'd like to see that red bush composed out of the shot. This one should have done much, much better.

Hmmm ... they're not predatory, they're weak and hungry. I know that's being hard and it's so difficult to get a DPC title but this one just doesn't fit the image so two good element defeat each other rather than enhance them

the lighting seems to be overkill here. if you used a flash, try putting tissue over it or I've heard a plastic spoon diffuses the light too. other than that, a great image- good tonality w/ the birds

For the "poster" thing to work, this should have more negative space either on the top or to one of the sides.

Good composition and a clever title trying to make a nature documentary interesting. Public television will definitely pick this up.

This is a great composition with fascinating subject matter, but seems too brightly lit. I'm guessing built-in flash because it seems a little flat depth-wise. The blurred background is good, but would of used the advanced editng rules to darken it significantly.

Beautiful..........

Sounds more like a rock group than a movie title to me.
