very nice detail without over sharpening. the lighting draws your eye to the top third of the thimble which adds interest and depth.

ALthough this thimble is unique looking the composition of this shot is not doing anything special for me. Try a tight marco crop mext time

I think if you tried to make a macro shot of the pattern, it would help a lot. Now it is just an isolated object and not very inetersting. The off-centered composition helps definately.
