This photo depicts the excess of water that we have each year from melting snow and spring showers. Although not shown here, many houses are flooded each year from the various rivers that come over their banks. It has always interested me, and so I jumped at the opportunity with this challenge to photograph it.

Greetings from the CC. I really like this image, I think the long exposure dramatically adds to the feeling that this is flooded and that things are being washed away. I think that is the strongest element of this photo in my opinion. I also find the subtle water lines of the current serve to really draw the viewer into the photo. I also think that you did well to place the horizon line as you did.
The only thing I think would add to it is if you had some kind of an object in the top right area of the water, maybe a kids ball washed away or something with a splash of color. Just an idea. Overall nicely done!!
Keep up the good work.

Just had to comment again re this image, as I love the feeling of movement portrayed in this tranquil image.
Yes, I also added it to "my favorites", during the challenge, before rollover, as I loved it enough even before finding out who took it.
I always like to know the photographer as well, so as to thank them for their great image.....
I don't know why, but just like to, as I nearly always add the phoyographer, as well as the image, so as to learn all I can, re the image and the photographer.

Beautiful motion on the water's surface, wonderful green moss colors. I didn't get a chance to vote this challenge but I found it interesting to read the other voter comments and get insight to the whole challenge. Still I think you've got a nice image here, go Utah.

maybe...but not likely. that is, not likely without some more human interest context. while this is a pretty and interesting image, it doesn't show any affect on people--and that's what makes the news.

This is a great shot, and the only suggestion I could have would be to maybe shoot at a higher shutter speed so that the water doesn't seem to be so smooth and serene and more chaotic to bring some more dramatic effect.

This one is an excellent photo, would look great framed and on a wall.

It doesn't say "journalism" to me though, without the title. In my opinion, the title shouldn't really be an important part of the shot or try to explain what it is depicting.

Nice composition and simple message. Could really be a front page pic.

Very well handled capture. The semi long shutter really makes this one jump.

Probably a little to artistic (slow shutter) for this type of challenge however this is really nice. The best part about this is it's depth from the branch in the lower corner all the way back to the little tunnel-like opening at the top.

this is pretty, I think I'd look more for what this is doing to humans to tell more of a story, you know, destruction and the like - 5

This is a lovely image - newsworthy only within a certain limited context. I voted more for the image quality than for the news.

Very pretty capture. Title seals the deal for me. Would work in a local paper.
