I really like this composition! There's something odd, though, in the blooms. I suspect you had to really compress this to meet the size and thus lost a lot of detail. That's just the appearance, I'm not positive. The little branch at the lower right is a little disctracting, too. The exposure is good, with the obvious exception of the sky. This is a good shot, just not a lot to keep the interest up.

first thought - good location, good time of year, but BAD time of day.

The composition has a lot of potential. The path works as a leading line, and gives a sense of journey. The colours in the foliage contrast with each other. However, what you really need is light - its all very flat, with no shadows, no areas of contrast..etc.

Try visiting it again with some evening light, for example.

A little underexposed, and perhaps not technically excellent, and also somewhat prosaic subject matter for a free study. I do like the placement of the road in the frame, and it's otherwise put together nicely, but suffers from a bit of softness, and slightly blown highlights between the branches. The image size itself should probably have taken advantage of the full 640. Lovely colour.

I liked this one when viewing the entries for this challenge. The curved line of the road and the contrast of the pink on the green gives it a serene feeling, in my opinion. It does need a bit more sharpness I think, to truly bring out the detail in the foliage. This is one of those that I think is probably hurt by the limited size we have here - I'll bet it's lovely full size and it would probably make a very nice print.

even though there are some lovely colors in this image there is no main subject to focus on, the eye keeps wandering all over the image looking for the subject, but it's not there...

in this image a small girl, maby 5 years old in a summer dress walking the road would make this a perfect image.. I know the 5year olds are hard to get if you didn't make one in time ;) but this is just the perfect scene for a picture like that.

without the main subject this picure is average at the most..

just my 2ยข

It seems like alot of the fine details are lost in this pic - probably due to resizing. Everything seems a bit too blurry. The colors are ok, though on my monitor there seems to be a slight odd cast to it all. I am not quite sure what the focus of the shot is. Is it the path or maybe the red and white buds? Just not enough detail for either to stand out in an eye catching way. A hidden treat would have been nice - such as maybe a deer at the end of the path peeking out in the trees. Somehting that would have been a fun find. I realize that you probably dont have a deer at your disposal, but something clear to focus on would have helped. (Sorry for the ramble).

The colors are very vibrant and the dirt road makes me think of a relaxing day in the country. The centered road and slightly soft focus are probably why it wasn't voted higher. I tend to do the same. Maybe it could benefit from some sharpening and using the full 640 pixel size for detail.

Beautiful colors, especially when contrasted by the dark tree trunks. I also like the perspective provided by the turn in the road and the vanishing point. I also like the back lighting. I would have scored this higher than the average voter.

I really like the peaceful feeling that you've captured here. I'd really try to use the full 640 pixels that the site allows, especially for a shot with this much detail. Your focus and exposure are great, and the bending road really carries the viewer into the pic. I think that I would have set up a bit differently to get that road a bit more over to the right hand side. Only to get it more out of the center, though. The coloring seems near flawless. This one would work well as a large wall-hanger.

Too much detail for the 640 maximum pixel dimension on this site -- I bet this would look nice as an 8"x12".
