I thought I wouldn't be able to get in this challenge, as nothing happens in my town. But our Volunteer Fire Department had a small fire to put out. Thanks to Buffalo Volunteer Fire Department for all they do for us.

First let me say that photojournalism in not my expertise so please bare with me.
My first thought is that you got a good pic of a fireman. It would have been nice to see some aspect of the emergency so to tell more of a story (that must be the rubber necker in me).
The colors are nice and crisp. The focus could have been a bit sharper in my opinion. I see that your ISO settng was at 1600 which probably didnt help - might be the cause for the slight noise in the background/house area. Cropping that area out may have been a slight improvement.
Not sure what else to add here. Overall the pic doesnt really tell a story by itself. It may have worked as one piece of a larger work of pictures. It's not a bad shot but not a strong one either IMO. But please take my opinion for what its worth - an opinion. Good luck on your future entries and I look forward to seeing more of your work.
ok, you chased a fire truck. if you're an amateur, hat's off to ya. if you're a pro, why didn't you capture something of the emergency that would give the image context? other than the mask, we don't have anything here that tells us any of the story.
This is one of the better shots i've seen so far in this challenge. You caught both eyes, background supports the foreground. The image is a little too centered though. The rule of 3rds could have been applied to make this a better image. 5 from me
:-) Hope they have something more useful than waterbottles to put those fires out. They are funny there behind him, but show that she/he is not in a hurry.
Or it could be a picture with an article on water-shortage.......
