Nice shot, I like your elements, but your set up needs finishing. This looks newly done...to pull off the illusion, smooth the sand a bit more then rake it, then blow it. It needs to look less disturbed (now this said, these are NIT points) Nice details on the skull, cactus and branch.8 Rob the Swash

Just feels too contrived, though I appreciate that this may be the intention - a studio depiction of the theme. Lacks an emotional impact for me though I do like composition, partial framing by long, bended branch and colour and position of cactus.

It looks too contrived, but I like the idea expressed.

The sand is too white and unnatural. Looks like moist beach sand rather desert sand. Overall as good composition. Would have worked better if the sand was desert sand.

The high key approach you have taken works well here. Any one of the elements would work well in isolation (being sure to leave lots of negative space). Especially the skull. Putting all three so close together seems staged and somewhat reduces the impact. Your exposure and processing are very well done. I like the lighting also; starker lighting would create darker shadows which might be effective, but might also weaken the high key effect you have so successfully achieved here.

Interesting set up but it look too staged to me.

Bootyful! Get your print ready! This one will sell. I would have placed the skull just a tad lower and left a bit.

each item is beautiful in its own way but they don't come together for me

interesting set up and title choice. trying to put the two together and figure out what is going on here. hehe. good lighting on the image. perhaps taking away the color and focusing more on the skull would have made this more foreboding.

Desert, but not desolate. Better in B/W?

nice still life. the cactus makes it not so desolate, but oh well, I like the balance of your photo

To staged looking to me... Not natural looking at all.

The cactus seems to bright and cheerful for a desolate picture.

Great shot.....poor little dead thing though! :) This could have been darkened a bit or maybe been in black and white or sepia, for a more "dark" feel. Wonderful picture though! :)

good shot... seems a little one dimensional. Did you try black and white to see how it would look??

If this wasn't so overexposed, this could have been one of my favourite pics this challenge. Is your monitor calibrated? 6
