Post-challenge: Thank you for all the comments.

This is a real live flying duck. The noise on the duck is not noise, it is feathers. The dark background was achieved from having a clear blue sky for a background, making it monochrome and playing with levels.

Is this a negative?

Looks like a statue that escaped its pedestal. Should drop from the sky like a lead balloon.

This looks overprocessed or something. The duck looks noisy or pixelated.

Sorry but the lack of texture and detail in the mallard is really hurting this image in my opinion.

simple and effective. Looks more like graphic art than a photo!

seems like this was really overexposed so....works pretty well as a negative......not terribly interesting subject though

Very effective image, guess this was high key and now its low key. Is this a real duck or a model? Anyway, I like it, strong negative image.

Great composition and minimalism. Neat image could have reduced the noise on the bird.

Nice contrast, like a pen and ink or line drawing sketch.

It's a little bit grainy but other than that the composition. The position and size of the bird and the negative space are all great.

Great capture of the mallard in flight, but it seems a bit grainy.

I'm voting all birds high this week, just because I can. Nice shot.
