Thanks for all the votes and comments all. Very pleased to get a top 10. Especially as there were so many good entries this week. For all of those who asked, this was shot from a normal commercial flight. The sea was originally blue in the shot I took, but as soon as I saw the road boat, I knew I'd be able to get something along these lines as it was so striking a scene. In the end, it turned out tobe a bit of a rescue job with photoshop while staying within the basic editing rules. Would have loved to have had advanced editing on this to burn the boat, make it more red, dodge the lower left, remove the fringing, etc.

Anyway, thanks once again.

Hi there from the Critique Club

First of all, congrats on the top 10 finish, as well as your best scoring photograph to date! It is often very difficult to get a good shot from the window of a plane, but you did just that here. This was one of my favorites from the onset of voting in this challenge. Good eye in seeing this and putting together the way you did. The composition is my favorite element of the shot. The way the boat is slicing through at an angle almost allows the viewer's eye to see the movement and anticipation of its passing. This is a very nice use of minimalism to produce a well-deserved top 10. Great post-processing work to come up with colors that complement very, very well.

I liked this one. Very different. You don't normally see a ship in a big amount of negative space.

Right place, right time. Love the perspective. Great colours too. Lucky you had a reasonably clean window to shoot through too.

Congratulations on a top 10 finish.

Such a simple picture, barge on the water...but from a unique perspective, interestingly composed, and great color saturation. Beautiful shot!

What a great picture this is. Read ship in the green ocean :-).
Good "natural" lighting, good focus, perfect capture and the cropping is perfect too.

whoa. Quite striking and beautiful at how simple it is. Have you shifted the sea water towards green or is it the way it was? I'd dodged lower right corner, though.

Very curious where this was taken. It looks like from a very high bridge or a plane. I like the composition a lot, and the color seems strange but pleasing.

8 - Very good. Nice composition and capture.. Difficult, but a little more definition (although I realize likely there 'bigger') and perhaps a tweaking of the color, though likely very difficult and not sure as works well as is, just bordering on orange, but fairly minor, may have made this even better in my opinion. Water surface just seems a little 'odd', hard to explain, could be neat image but apologies in advance if wrong. Like the title.

Very nice. I like the use of negative space and the way you were able to meet the challenge with such an unusual scene. Great sense of movement in the ship, I half expect it to start coming down my screen!
