The start of the 2006 FIM World Championship Endurance racing. New season, new latest spec bikes.
Pictured is Vincent Philippe on the Castrol Suzuki, model GSX-R1000. One of the strongest teams in the field and as you can see by their no.1 plate: the 2005 champions.

This was shot at the Assen 500km, a 110 lap race. Castrol Suzuki 1 won it, putting all other contestants on at least one lap. They are that strong yes. Good riders, good mechanics, smart and very experienced team manager and a good bike.

Next week (Apr 22nd and 23nd) is the Le Mans round, where they will race for 24 hours on the short Le Mans track.
Also in the championship is the 8 hours of Suzuka and the 24 hour Bol d'Or at Magny Cours.

I was lucky to even get a good shot. I had set my camera right but my lens wrong. The VR was in Active mode instead of normal. Normal VR can work with panning, the lens will not compensate for it. Active mode will compensate for it and is only good for shooting from a vibrating vehicle. So from the 200 shots only 10 or so are good. The lens would try to stay with the background instead of the motorcycle I was panning with/on = sharp background, blurry bike (it corrected the panning).

Only after I edited I saw that this is an advanced editing challenge. This photo has been edited based on the basic rules.

What I like is the diagonal flow, the motion blur of the background and wheels. I also chose this one because it is the 2005 champion and the front wheel comes of the ground because he just kicked it in third gear (exit GT corner).
What I don't like is that I am looking on his back.

I bet this will get a low score (dnmc crowd).
