 This stunning display of flowers only happens in full sunshine and midday making it very difficult to photograph without a filter.

A very nice display and use of this plant. I know it as 'pig face', but that might be a misnomer. Comes in a larger variety too. Just did a quick search, here is more info if interested: Dave's Garden - Rosea Ice Plant 'Floribunda Purple' (Drosanthemum floribundum).

Here is a shot I took that partially shows this (or similar) plant ('blown' areas and quality not that good so don't look too close), although I think mine is a lighter color. The main flower you see is a dark pink Tree Dahlia (Dahlia tenuicaulis):
