Lighting fully intentional. Crop fully intentional. Oh. Horrors. :P And I'd do it again, dagnabbit.

Nobody seemed to notice that there are two portraits here -- the primary one and the profile created by the shadow. This was very under-rated. I don't think many voters took the time to really look at it.

composition could be better. the main focus seems to be his cheek just cause it's in the middle of the frame. the cheek shouldn't be cut of like that

I like how you tried to do something different but in the end it just doesn't work for me. The biggest problem is the lighting, IMO. On the forehead you have this weird pointy pattern which doesn't look good. However, the lighting around the mouth down to the chin isn't bad and actually does provide some interest.

Harsh shadows are something you really want to avoid with studio photography.

I like the interplay between the lighting and shadows, but I think a stronger focus and contrast would work better.

A bit too grainy for my tastes, also the light cast doesn't really add to the photo

Harsh light, too close, parts of the face cropped off, focus not quite right.

The light makes a very strange shadow on the person's face. Plus, the picture is noisy.
