I knew I'd end up doing another self portrait. I need to find a willing model with a prettier face!

Anyway, simple setup:
Two lights, one with umbrella right above my head for lighting background and hair highlights, the other under the camera pointed directly at me with an 8" reflector and a sheet of paper in front on it to diffuse the light a little.

Post Proccesing:
-Converted from Raw using RSE
-Quick run through Noise Ninja to smoth out my skin a little

In Photoshop,
-A few selective color adjustments
-Levels Adjustments
-Hue/Saturation
-Cloning & Healing blemishes
-Crop
-Resize
-Unsharp Mask
-Save for Web

This lighting appears to give him a black eye.

Lighting just isn't right here. Face is too dark & flat. hair & neck are over exposed.

too much light in the background? Gives the image a bit of a washed out feel to it.

I think this would have more impact if the subject was not centered. Cropping a bit of his left shoulder off and putting him into thirds may make this pic pop a bit more.

Kudos for using a hair light... only thing is, it appears really bright, especially compared to what the main light must have been as shown by the brightness of his face.
