After two dismal entries, this is my last hope for a better score this week. I can only hope that people don't assume it's a PS filter or existing artwork. The setup is pretty wild...

I bought a mask and a rubber hand from a costume store, and glued an old pair of sunglasses to the mask. Then I filled a trash can lid with water and spray painted everything chrome (oil-based paint floats on water). I had my family helpers hold sheets of brightly colored paper off to the sides to create the colored edges.

One other detail- the water surface was perfectly flat when I painted it. Too perfect. I wanted some imperfections to show some detail and texture to make it look molten. To do that, I shook the setup a little to break up the paint and "flicked" the surface with a toothpick to make bubbles. The bubbles on the hand and face were a result of sloppy "flicking."

Processing: Noise Ninja, crop, levels, hue/saturation (desaturated the blue channel), and curves adjustments.

How did I know this was a Scalvet...hmmmmmmmmm Lemme see..

It was innovative, creative, well executed, had great lighting and truly stood out from the pack.... just some of the more recognizable traits that are consistant with a Scalvertian effort.

Great job and kudos on another much deserved ribbon.

very nice concept...well executed, taking into account the "hot" subject - i just hope this is not a process-created effect

because i believe in the inherent goodness of humanity (some call this naivety), you get an "elightening 8" from me for this attempt

please let publish your workflow, and it will also be interesting to know who this image is of

good luck
