Taken at a waterski event I covered for the paper this weekend.. This is Kayla Milnes of Pines beach in Canterbury, She came second in the womens jump event with a distance of 24m.

Editing was crop, levels, curves, a little dodge&burn on the judges 'hut' behind to tone it down, and then scale and a light USM.

And I cloned out the bonnet of a car parked in the background, it was annoying me.

Be good to have the update button again, first challenge I've entered for a while...

Post challenge:

Aparently this isn't Kayla, the name order for the score sheet was wrong. I dunno who it is to be sure, but the paper published it as is.. Oops. Such is life.

7 - Good capture. Like the 'shine' on the ski. Difficult, but perhaps a more finely tuned crop, not sure. Maybe even b&w/toning may have given this extra, who knows - your call anyway, obviously.

Too bad you couldn't get an angle without the structure in the background.

nice image, but could have been much better. a much closer crop on the jumper, cutting out the board and most of the rope would have made it more dramatic. and if you caould have darkened the background a bit, that would have made it less distarcting.

Great capture! I like how the fast shutter speed has frozen the water spray.
