Yes, that's really one photo, and I didn't clone out any supports. I've been planning/worrying about this shot all week. I didn't have a good vista for the background, so I had to wait until Sunday for fair weather and drive an hour away, then hike to the top of Sleeping Giant mountain for the shot.

This time, my daughter is holding a balloon that I've attached to a sturdy wire to keep the "string" straight. She's standing about 10 feet from a very steep rocky ledge and simply jumping as high as she can.

I had severe vignetting from using a polarizer on a wide angle lens, so I did a Photoshop war dance on it. Neat image, levels, lots of dodge & burn, saturation, shifted the color of her shirt to a more lemony yellow, cloned away a dark edge around her (result of a 580ex fill flash), buttoned her pants (heh), and cloned out a piece of the rock she's jumping on and a few stray twigs. Hope this was worth it!

EDIT- some of the commenters mentioned that they'd rather not see the ground. I did one like that, but I felt that the ground and distant city in my entry gave better sense of scale and altitude.

Nice shot. I almost entered a similar shot in "Jump". However, I felt I would have to clone out too much to remove some distractions.

If possible, I'd like to see the original to see the cloning job on the rock and dark areas you mentioned.

Very good set-up and shot.

There are a lot of well photograph shots in this challenge where the "yellow" part was just thrown in to meet the challenge. This one not only contains yellow but also expresses what it feels like visually, IMO. Well done and bumping up.

Really great image... would have been perfect if the horizon was completely cropped out, and there wasn't a condensation trail at left. Really great otherwise!

Outstanding shot, the sky really accentuates the yellow. 8

A fantastic image! I like the composition, although I might have put her on the left, as it seems the wind was coming from the right. Your model did a great job--is she on a trampoline, or was she tossed? :-)

Very well done! :)Colors are so vivid, and the child looks to be staring way down at the ground. :)

Love those bold and rich hues of yellows and blues in this composition. The action of the child holding onto the yellow ballon as she 'drifts' up, up & away adds dynamic action to the shot and thus adds visual interest. There are a few elements that would move this photo from the realm of good to stunning. The first is get rid of the ground plane - it adds nothing to the overall shot and the dull green/brown colors detract attention away from the action and those beautiful hues of blue sky and yellows of your main subject. Shooting the photo from a lower angle where you are looking up at the subject would have removed the ground plane from the composition AND it would have given the illusion of height to the main subject - since we are looking at the child holding the yellow balloon from a lower angle it automatically would make the viewer believe the youngster is at a great height.

wonderful shot...I would have cloned out the cloud trails and perhaps tried to leave out the earth in the shot, but otherwise stunning 8
