Thanks to my son for helping me with this!!!!
EJ is not big on being a model for me (typical 16yr old) but was very helpful thru 3 days of trying. Unfortunatly we never got an overcast day (darn it!) to simulate the lighting in the original, and a different season, so all is green right now.

I liked the soft back ground of the original too, but my camera does not have that depth and PS efforts looked wrong. I like it as is just the same.
Yeah, finally broke the 7 barrier!!
Thanks all!!! Ah yes, thank Justin for such inspiration!

Um, not too sure what you're referring to, but wasn't me. I was refering to Elsapo's original for which this is a tribute to. I hadn't tried this till now. But I would like to see the other version you saw, if you can relocate it.

Aha so you shot one similar before. see I knew it. I knew I've seen this shot before at

Well done and congratulations on Top 10. I was going to comment during voting about the location - eucalypts being native to Australia. But then I thought they looked a bit too seried to be in Australia, so I thought they must have been planted as non-natives in another country. ;-)

Nice but Elsapos shot had so much better lighting, a very mystical lighting that set the mood for his shot and that is not the case here, that and also the shallow DOF gave it a very mysterious and magical quality. This is hardly bad though and a nice imitation, keep it up.

I came so close to doing this myself but my model cancelled at the last minute. I have the frame and black cloth attached sitting in my living room.

I do like your choice of location, lots of visual interest in those woods, I do wonder why you chose to offset your frame to the left, rather than the right like elsapos. Your execution of the frame is good, your hands really arent in the most convincing postion though. Overall its not a bad representation, I tink I would have liked to have seen your head out of the portal a little more and the portal off to the right some.

Either way, good attempt. It is a hard entry to mimick for sure.

Nice take on the original with the added benifit of a strong leading line through the gums - Australia?

Wow - I'm impressed This is really good. Love the expression. The hands are a tad "off," but otherwise well done!!!
