Thanks to everyone for your positive comments. I don't know why the out of focus head bothers so many people. Actually my thought at the time was the composition placement of the angle for the wings, not the focus. As to the glares, I feel they help to give the appearance of the membrane part of the wings. Thanks again.

I like this and the focus is great..you also did a good jod of a conpromise between close upp and where you chose to crop.

Nicely sharp on its back, but the head is a little soft, as are the wings, I like the composition.

Your shot really stands out among all the other insect shots. The detail in the wings is amazing. Very nice!

Beautiful macro, good composition; the cropping off of the wings works for me - 10.

Superb shot, I love the texture and detail on the wings. Shame about the occasional burnt out highlight, and the shadow detracts from the subject a little. Nice composition and crop. Perhaps could do with a little more saturation and sharpening. Very nice dof. 9

Goodness, this is beautiful... I like the diagonal line of the leaf/ stem breaking up the frame one way as the wings break it up in the other. A well chosen crop.

The upper part of the dragonfly's body looks like it has a lions face in it! Did you notice that? Pretty cool shot....I like bugs...

Wonderful textures ! This photo just jumps out at you. The lighting is perfect. Great contrast and his body is in thirds which just balances this out. GREAT photo :)

The focus started to fade away toward the head. Maybe if you decrease your aperture or move you focus up a little capture all the details of the dragonfly, it would have scored higher from me. 8
