Imitating my own photo

Actually stumbled upon this bench when I first shot it for the Serendipity challenge a little less than 2 years ago. Think I got a better composition this time, but the lighting could be better.

Greetings from the Critique Club!

On first view, this photograph took my breath away. In my opinion, this is truly a spectacular land/seascape. Composition is spot-on, the bench expertly reflecting lines in the near and far horizons. The counter-lines offered by the incoming surf supply a lovely balance. The slender plants coming off the edge of the greenery and extending into the view of the water are a perfect border, separating the two complementing views in this image with subtlety. For me, the orientation of the bench offers an excellent invitation to study the rest of the picture, as it draws the eye gently into the drama of the background. I think there is a certain balance achieved with the dark elements in the centre left of the image, that break up in an interesting way as they make their way across the image to the right.

The clouds may have benefitted from subtle, restrained burning with a large soft brush to enhance the drama. I'm loath to suggest this, though, since I really like this image as-is.

A real feast for the eyes. Thanks!

Louis

I liked Zoomdaks composition better but other than that, a pretty good copy of his shot.

I never figuer out what the original entry had to do with serendipity but that's not relevant in this challenge. You did an excellent job and your shot gets an 8 from me.
