Sorry, but your focus is off. Also the bright object at bottom right of the pic is distracting.
The idea here is OK, but you need to get the focus better.
Out of focus and slightly blown, with uncomplementary grain and jpg artefacting, plus a too-diffuse background that seems to be necessary for the composition. Please try again next time.
nice idea, but the focus and the light peeping around the hand really pull you down. if you don't have macro, shoot from further away and then crop in.
Welcome to DPC. Looks like back-focus, as evident from the sharp lamp. Focus on hands and less-central compostion would be better. It's possible that your camera can't focus this closely, if so, back it up and crop in software.
I understand what you were attempting to accomplish but this composition feels slightly rushed. I believe the hands do need to have some point of focus. It goes beyond selective focus. Also, the light in the background is distracting to me. There seems to be a large amount of noise in this photograph. Nice attempt but I feel that it’s not quite there.
