The gas mask is, at this point, painfully cliche.

He looks scared - this picture begs questions - where are the laces? and why is he wearing that mask with velvet sweats? Also, the hands stand out more than the shoes because of the lighting - Good use of basic black to cut out distractions - maybe move the light further from the subject?

Neat idea...I think it could have been better if the feet weren't cropped out. The focus looks to be more on his helmet, than the shoes.
