Jacque, this is AMAZING!!!! I am totally bewildered why it only scored 5.1!!! You can see every single little feather, and they are razor sharp! I love the clean colors. The expression on his face. I think the voters reeeeeeallly missed it on this one!! The only thing I can see that could even possibly be seen as taking a hit is just a tiny tiny bit of highlights on his chest and top of his head that maybe could have been been fixed by creating a layer mask and upping the levels to darken those areas, and then erasing out the rest of it to let the background show thru. Other than that, I think there's no way this isn't scoring in the mid 6's! I think you take great pictures!!!!!

GREAT DOF! The sun on the chest is a little blown, but I don't think you can do much about that. Maybe use the dodge/highlight tool 3%, that would darken the chest a little. Its a great picture maybe a few more editing steps. Burn tool to darken the background (helps the bird to stand out better) up the contrast +3 or +4, sel color (black/black +2, white/black +1, red/black +2) hue/sat (red/sat +4, blue/sat +2, master/sat +2). USM to help with the soft focus. This is just me looking at the picture.

Keep up the great work. Believe me, your pictures/scores will get BETTER!

What a great job lining your nest...A regal composition with such great detail helped defined by your dof. Good luck -8-

Looks like you had some harsh light to contend with there and reckon you did well to lose just that little bit of detail. I thinmk if this was a little sharper it would have fared much better that it probably will. You have the catchlight and a little doging would really bring it out. a well seperated background and a nice bokeh :)Rather than merely cropping this to a square I think it fits the image well with your chosen composition - well done (bumping up 1)

Nice portrait and selective focus. The detail is almost there, perhaps DOF was very small? I like the backlighting, but it leaves the eye a shade dark. Overall a very nice shot!
