::: Critique Club :::

Hi, my name is Kari and from the critique club.

Great fun to do a critique on your image but it is difficult if you don't give us any information in your photographers comments. When we do a critique, we go past just the photographic result, that's what voters comments do. The critique looks at what you were trying to achieve, how you wanted it to look and what issues you had in getting the image captured and ready for voting.

First Impression - the most important one:
Gorgeous - young and impressionable - well that is t he image anyway.

Composition:
I really do like this .. the rule of thirds appears to have bene applied 9 knowingly or not) ...

Subject:
I don't know that this meets the challenge - those do not look like bi-focals (which often have a line across them where the split in the lens is) ... others may have picked this up .. as noted by kiwinick ... I think that the earring may be overkill - only as it is quite a distinicly different colour of pink.

Technical (Colour and light):
You have some interesting comments on this in the comments recieved .. I think that she is quite well lit and I like the colours in the picture - the use of the pink keeps it in the realness of her young age ... other colours I think may be too harsh.

To grow its vote?:
most of the things that i can think of would take time, you did not have the luxery ... I think you did an exceptional job and well deserved a place in the top 20!

Summary:
Well done .. lovely shot .. more details help me when commenting.

If you've got any questions about this critique, please feel free to contact me via the PM system.

Cheers

Kari

A very nice and humorous approach to a rather difficult challenge. My only pick is that I would have liked to see here left eye more. Bumping up. 8

Very cute - I love her expression! While the shot is very crisp & clear, I'm not crazy about the intense saturation of the feathers.

It looks like she had a lot of fun doing this. Everything works so well. The orange feather and subdued pink earring are great ways to bring in different colors. Nice job!

I think the blouse just puts the pink theme over the top for me. I'd like to see her wearing something black, so that her upper body just fades into the background. Maybe take off the earring and the lipstick, so the feathers are the main focus. AS it is, they kind of get lost in the shuffle. The focus is spot on and I love her braids. If she were wearing black, then I'd have one over her shoulder to show it off more. In fact, I'd take off the hat too. LOL One hot pink feather with the glasses would really make a stronger statement in its simplicity. Sorry, I'm rambling but people ask for detailed critiques, so I guess you got one. Best of luck!

wow - bright vivid colors! Not too believable on bifocals though when your model is so young.
