The main problem for me is the perspective and tilt. This appears to be done with a wide angle setting which will distort perspective unless the horizon is vertically centered. If you can't center the horizon then shoot from farther away with a longer focal length. Also, tilt is very apparent when there is an obviously straight object in the picture.

Note that while perspective can be corrected in Photoshop, apparently it is against the Basic Editing rules to do so, so you must watch the perspective in the camera. Tilt can be corrected in post-processing.

A 6 from me if I voted on this one. It meets the challenge well enough - maybe too literal for some. photographically, the composition suffers as mentioned from those two foreground tombstones, but if you would have moved those out of the way, I would have said it is a stunningly crisp, if macabre, image.

The title is ok, but how about this: "How deep does the rabbit hole go?" ;-) Hang tough - you've got skills.

I agree with Guyver that the tombstones in the front make the photo look just a bit too busy. The shot is also very centered with nothing in particular to lead the viewer's eyes through the picture. The structure itself is very interesting with many details and points of intrigue. Take some time to kneel, squat, lie on the ground and roll around to get various details of the structure itself...especially with the sky as empty as it was at the time of the shot. Also, the sky blew out on you, but the exposure on the building itself is quite nice. Getting close with various perspectives would also alleviate this. I hope this helps some, and I agree that there are not enough comments handed out as of late. Just don't get too discouraged, we are all too busy for our own good.

I like the colors and texture you captured. The problem areas for me are the blown highlights in the sky and the composition which feels too boxed in for me. Also, the tight crop of the structure makes the uneven edges of it more noticable (i.e. right side wall appears tilted inward). That could have been fixed shooting perpendicular to the structure, using a tilt shift lens or fixing the perspective in photoshop. Overall the image is a good one.

As it pertains to the challenge voters might not have found this shot that compelling. Maybe if there was more interesting light cascading on the structures/tombs it would have done better with voters, especially since the theme was afterlife. Maybe an evening/sunset shot would have achieved this?

I didn't vote in this challenge but if I did I probably would have scored this a 5 or 6.

Mmmh... in all essence its a nice photo. However, tHe two tombstones in the front right is a bit distracting for me. It's in the way of completeing the arch.

But, personally, it's hard for me to imagine man-made objects as portals to the afterlife.

Thats just me.
