First of all the idea came from this painting, after googling with the keyword "square" (I do that most of the time... ;)) : click. I don't know exactly how my brain made the twist to the final photo ;)

I ripped a piece of paper (A4) from the center with a hole at the size of my fist. I placed a black piece of paper on the floor, lay down the white paper with the hole in the center on top of it, resting on 2 cups. Used my remote-controller while my right hand was in the hole of the paper. I used light that came from the window.
It was pretty hard to get the focus, shadows, & position of my hand correct, because I used my 50 mm (to use a large aperture) and so I couldn't see what was happening in the viewfinder. But I think the final result is cool, and it was exactly the way I had it in mind.

thanx to my hubby for writing the 4-letter word on my hand! ;)

adjustments:
rotate canvas - levels - B&W - erase some of the shadows - brightness /contrast - crop - clone stamp - dodge & burn shadows - sharpened

AMEN - and the part about Holland - yeah. Americans are a bit overly prudish sometimes. I wasn't offended in the least.

Gutsy! I like the concept. Doesn't look like a real tattoo though.

I'm wondering if more dof to make the edges of the torn paper harder would have worked better here. Apart from that: nice idea, interesting message and good processing. 8

This is nice and sharp and a nice b&w conversion. However, and I'm not a prude, what is the purpose of the word on the fingers? I personally believe that this photo would be as effective, if not more so, without that.

Impressive sentiment, I bet not many love the language, but who gives a fuck. I think I would have liked this in colour. :)

This is going to be interesting! A very risky entry and I will love reading the comments afterwards! Photographically this is a very very good image, but I'm not sure if the word is a little too naughty!

Well done shot, makes a statement. If it wasn't for the profanity it would make an excellent shock shot. 8

I am offended by this.

That being said, it is a powerful image with great emotional payload!

In the end, I gave it a good score.

While I appreciate that this was done deliberately as an attention-getter, I have to say that I think it's over the top, and I think it may backfire on you.

My parents always told me cursing is a lack of vocabulary and imagination. Although you do have good camera skills.

Not sure how well this will do. I'm sure you're getting plenty of feedback for using the word FUCK as the primary subject.

Interesting concept. Good lighting. I do believe this would have worked better with a deeper DoF so that the tears in the paper were in sharper focus. But, overall this is an interesting composition. Good luck!

Wow, that's really in-your-face, Rikki. ;-) I'm not sure a lot of voters will like it. The black thumbnail looks a little too black.
