Not a set-up shot...I probably shouldn't be entering this..
Processed while she slept, listening to Antony and the Johnsons...
Shot with what existing light there was, and handheld.

convert to LAB, channels A +B off, convert to grayscale to RGB, cropped, curves, ,levels, curves2, contrast +4, small dodge and burn, cloned out some bright specks, added border, usm a couple of times, save for web.
then went back, reworked a bit..smudge tool on bits of hair that bugged me,
turned it into a tritone (black, brown, yellow)..
The strangest thing is just by eyeballing it when I cropped, this ended up being a perfect square and yet was shot for comfort...hmm, am I submitting to the right challenge? There are some specks bugging me, so I have moved it over so that I could clone them out.
I am submitting this exactly 1 year after joining...

I love the position of the teddy bear! He looks like he's waving! *waves back* *realises how silly he looks waving at the computer screen*

Very nice photo, my only 10 of this challenge. I like your choice sepia like tones for this photo, they work quite well. Normally photos of children leave me rather uninspired, typically they are just trying to get by on cuteness. Perhaps it is because the tones work so well with the sleeping child or because it has me thinking of my own daughter. Either way you accomplished what a good photo should...to move someone in some special way! Good luck.

Precious! THe lighting is great the way it highlights her face. I would have burned down her sleeve, so that it does not draw attention away from her face.
