Well, this cute little number here is my friend Hailey. We set off to the local small town theater(hence the title influene) and found some great old-ish clothing a lamp and a black wall. I shot directly into B&W because I felt like it and then just followed up with basic editing: crop, play with contrast ect, add a border and prepare for web, o' and a little gaussin blur so that it looks a little less 'tres bon' and more classic.

P.S. I also played with adding noise and grain to increase the "age" of the image but found it icky.

The blown out highlight on her hand and upper arm are distracting. There are too many accessories, IMO.

I think the main detractor for me with this photo is the lighting. I understand that the lighting was used to create a 'mood', and I'm all for that kind of thing - I even like the concept of it. However, I think that perhaps the lighting is falling on the wrong body parts for it to be really effective - the hand and arm are very 'hot', and the rest of the photo is pretty much lost in shadow. The pose is interesting (though I would have preferred to see her looking up at the camera from that position), and the composition is quite nice. The fact that the 'important' parts (her face, her outfit) are so shadowed, though, really undermines the impact of the photo.

I love this image. However, I wish the light would have been more focused on the face and upper neckline more. When I think fashion I think of the clothes, the style, and a lot of that is darkened out here. However, outside of the constraints of the competition, I think it's a great shot. Perhaps a bit of selective levels on the hand to keep it from being so distracting. (8)

The hand is a little blown out. Not too bad though

A little too dark. Can make out much on the pic. May be my screen though...

I like the use of light and shadow.. the model captures my attention because of the quiet drama of her pose.. I think the overall soft tone really works in this shot
