A single 'horizon line' of velvet would have worked bettter for me (right across the shot) - so that the blade has the illusion of appearing against a pitch black sky. The border is too large and distracting too, especially with the dark subject matter. [5]

A great concept, the lint and noise is going to kill you though. May be a different type of velvet would be less messy. I have cleaned it with masking tape before. 5
