Re-edited from the camera originals, Nov 29, 2006.

One 60 second and two 180 second exposures, stacked and averaged. I used the 60 second exposure to capture the details of the interior of the nebula, which were pretty much blown out at 3 minutes. Lots of post-processing to bring out fainter details and colors.

This shot was achieved with the piggyback method.

Beautiful shot. I have a $1000 telescope and an $800 camera and you can bet your sweet A** that I wouldn't have the patience or skill to do this.

Trusty M42 never fails to impress astronomy buffs and laymen alike. People are always kind of confused when I point out that "fuzzy star" belove Orion's belt and tell them they're looking at a nebula. Excellent image here, you've captured a great amount of detail that is sometimes washed out by the Trapezium.
