Photograph Information Photographer's Comments
Challenge: Duotones II (Basic Editing III)
Camera: Nikon D70
Lens: Sigma 50-500mm f/4.0-6.3 EX DG HSM for Nikon
Location: Outside home at 5:35AM
Date: Feb 18, 2006
Aperture: F/9
ISO: 200
Shutter: 1/100
Galleries: Abstract, Astrophotography
Date Uploaded: Feb 18, 2006

Cropped, contrast enhanced with USM, desaturated, converted to duotone using process yellow for highlights (inverted so the brightest areas get the most ink) and process blue for shadows. This basically turned the sky blue and the moon yellow. Then I did a small brightness adjustment, resampled to 640 max, applied USM and saved. All processing (after raw conversion) done with Corel Photo-Paint 12.

I will be honest. I did not really get it, I thought it was an orange.

The original is just awesome. I think sepia would have done real well.

Something about this is just unappealling to me. I'm not really sure what I'm looking at.

Whether or not this is an acutal photograph makes no difference to me. All I can say is that this image comes across as something taken very poorly, and then worked over in PP way too much.

This moon is incredible !! However allow me to tell you...if it was the real color it would be much better.

This is a two-color image but that doesn't make it a duotone. The second ink color in a duotone is used to enhance the first, not to show some objects in one color and other in another color.

Definately an adventurous approach, I like your choice of colours, but personally I think I would like a tighter crop,I like it though and well done for being different.
