A surrogate grandmother (and good friend of mine) passed away after a long battle with Leukemia. While I consciously avoided direct infringement on a moment my mother shared with my cousin, I took the opportunity to hopefully express what others were longing for...

So, there are indeed smashing pictures around here.. Interesting..

I stand corrected. I thought this picture would do worse (I was one of the 3s). It is one emotional picture. I wish I would've gotten that aspect. Maybe a different title?

I was complaining about the background, but when an emotion happens, you don't have time to worry about the background.

Don't get the connection but that's one hell of a picture.

I feel like I'm invading her pain by looking at this photograph. If this is not staged then I don't feel like it should be photographed.

Great foreground, shame about the background

I don't understand the subject. Lighting's a little harsh and the background is distracting. Try better next time.

I'm wondering what tragedy happened, this is a sad photo and you captured it well. I rated you an 8

a very emotional shot.. I really like how the older woman is cradling the young one, even though her expression shows she too is in pain

For me, I think this image would be even more powerful if it were cropped in from the left side - to eliminate the woman in the background. With the expressions you captured on the women's faces, I can feel their pain and anguish. Nicely done.

Stunning expressions on the faces! It would be even better without the jacket(?) in the left bottom corner, but alltogether a great emotive capture!

A lovely depiction of sorrow, though I'd crop more off the left side. Don't know where Virtue fits in.

I don't really understand the title, but the sense of confort offered by the woman to the right is beautiful.
