Hi. IMO, there is too much black in the top portion. I think another angle that includes more table, or maybe a long exposure shot without a flash could help.
Almost good use of the flash. The front of the bench got overexposed and detailless, but the black background fits the white subject. The portrait is a brave crop, but works better than the landscape would.
