The red shell detract from the split in the barrel...like an after thought to fill in dead space

Yikes! How did that happen? Hope the shooter is ok. As for the image, two things stand out to me that could make this a little better: Lighting (it's a little dark), and focus (well, maybe not...appears that the shotgun shells are worn in the red making them look fuzzy). Anyway, good luck in the challenge.

I think it's a bit under exposed, especially the barrel.

Subject itself is good. However, the background is too dark and the red of the bullets is harsh, bringing them too far into the foreground.

Wish to see the whole gun, perhaps barrel could be against lighter background to improve contrast. Great idea, love the slugs and the etched plating.

The barrel blends in too much with the b/g... make is hard to tell what I'm supposed to be looking at...
