In response to your request for comment: This is a great example of a gritty or urban picture. The focus on the wall as the main subject, with the figure seeming to be only an incidental element, is a fantastic choice, and of course the added or purposeful grain simply makes this image all the more effective. The picture is well cut up in thirds: the man, the central portion of the image that has more or less straight scratches, and the rightmost portion that is bounded by a darker patch near the top. I naturally want to look at the figure of the human being, but your clever composition forces me to concentrate on the intricate detail of the wall, and for me this therefore becomes an important relationship. So there's a story in this image.

I really think the underexposed figure works well, especially because we can't see his face. His left hand I think is perfectly positioned and held. The background to his right (immediately to the left of the figure in the picture) is perfect, reflecting the grunginess of the main subject, the highlighted wall.

There's nothing I don't like about this picture.
