I can't tell what this is without the title. Might make for a good abstract however the highlights are just way too distracting IMO.
02/07/2006 07:42:00 PM
hey, is this referring to the theme of 'without you i'm nothing, and you don't care at all' ?
02/07/2006 05:19:15 PM
And exactly how does this convey romance?
02/07/2006 05:17:09 PM
to blurry for me
02/07/2006 12:37:42 PM
Blurry.

I really like this photo but it doesn't really fit into this category. It's still a great idea though.
02/07/2006 03:15:22 AM
Not really seeing romance here. It's an interesting shot, just not working for this challenge.

Need my Sunglasses for this picture

I'm not sure what you are going for here. I do like the light and the reflections.
02/06/2006 10:38:42 AM
Too confused to be understandable.

I'm not sure how this fits the challenge. To me it says the opposite of romance - lonliness. Also although I think the camera shake is deliberate to add effect, it doesn't work that well here. It might work better if the shot were b&w and a bit grainy to add mood and atmosphere.

not too sure what this has to do with romance.....?
02/04/2006 07:21:18 PM
very cool
02/04/2006 06:33:40 PM
Too bright and too out of focus. Does not seem romantic to me.

This doesn't evoke a feeling of romance. Lone desperation perhaps...

Sorry, a little bit too artsy for me, the motion blur isnĀ“t winning me over. I think I would have liked the composition though if the whole shot was crystal clear with the person walking in a slight motion blur.

Did you even _try_ to relate this image to the challenge topic? The word "alone" in the title is about as close as this seems to get. Even if the subject matter were dead on target this style of image probably wouldn't score too well here at DPC. You typically have to demonstrate that you know the rules before you can break them well; in a learning environment like this rule breaking tends to receive low marks even if done well.

That said, I find the image somewhat intriguing. If you'd have taken it from closer to the ground and given the figure some more head room I think that this would look better. The intersection and the lights provide a strong sense of perspective; this element could be used to great advantage. The bottom right of the image seems to be filled with purposeless dead space; give it a purpose or crop it out.

I don't really see the concept of the tilting here, neither the dizzy style. Sometimes it works but here it's too much IMO, and also overexposed. I can't really catch romance, it would be better to see your model's expression on the face, and using a tripod would also help you hold your camera stable.
02/02/2006 03:52:11 PM
Let's see -- Out of focus, camera shake, glare, and tilted camera.
02/02/2006 02:04:52 PM
emo?

"...after drinking in a bar because of a sad romance story?" :)..
please don't be mad at me for making fun but I just can't see the romance part; maybe some focus on the character, two people.. would have illustrated the idea? anyway an image with that amount of camera shake is really difficult to look at
02/02/2006 12:04:25 PM
to bad its so blurry, maybe you got something to say with it, but I don't think a lot of people will see it :(
02/02/2006 06:41:04 AM
Sorry but for me, this is too arty for a romantic challenge, just my thoughts, others may love it.
02/01/2006 11:15:04 PM
unusual
02/01/2006 04:13:40 PM
every time i see a picture like this on DPC i hope it is a joke. There is nothing vivually appealing about major camera shake and over exposed streetlights. The angle is the only point of interest in this image.
02/01/2006 01:50:48 PM
It's not romance, and it's an "OK" shot. It conveys a cool feeling, but the poor "night-lighting" really hurts things. An altered white balanced might have bumped up the score on this.

Nice color, and I can guess that you were trying for an effect. But a shakey camera just won't cut it in DPC, something should be sharp. For available low light, I'd suggest a tripod or high ISO.
02/01/2006 08:39:33 AM
Ok, like the idea, stagering home drunk after a night on the pull, but not very romantic (IMO)
02/01/2006 06:19:04 AM
That brings back some memories, and given the title I can see why you might have gone for not having sharp focus, but as I'm sure many other people are saying, something probably should be a little clearer in focus. I also think having the camera lower to the ground and shooting angled up more migt have created a more powerful image.

Unfortunately there is nothing really in focus - too much camera shake for a night shot. In addition the image needs rotating to bring the horizon perpendicular to the sides.
