It was pretty fun making this shot. Since I have been working, I don't have time to take photos at all. However, 3 weeks ago I wrenched my knee and got a bit bored, felt a bit blue, that's how I got back to DPC again. I have been lurking around sometimes, and now I deceided to submit again, and I can tell you: photographing is the best medicine among all!!!

A long light source and a spot one covered with blue foil, white spreadsheet as background. I was also playing around with WB.

Post-processing:
- rotate CCW 0.3 degree
- crop and resize
- brightness (decrease)
- contrast (increase)
- selective colour
- decrease all colours in whites
- decrease non-blues in blues
- increase blacks in blacks
- sharpen edges
- unsharp mask
- border

I like the technicals which are well done. The composition is pretty good, although I may have cropped a bit more space into the left side (not a lot though). The picture is fairly noisy along the gradient, which is odd for ISO 100. People on DPC almost uniformly hate noise. Perhaps a run through Neat Image would have cleared that up. Like the last photo I commented on, I think the voters were rewarding your technicals with fewer really low scores, but perhaps couldn't get excited enough about an empty jug to score it much higher.

Thank you all for all your great comments and words, I appreciate it very much!

Agenkin, I thought a lot about yours and I have to agree both on the shadow, which I did not realize during the set up and the flip as well. Most people use their right hands, I missed a point here with the composition.

I also would like to improve sharpness and quality, however noone mentioned it yet, I feel these two points might have been the weakness.

Fun shot. I like that the glass almost appears to be the source of light for the image.

I think that it would be better to place the glass in the left of the frame, or perhaps, simply flip this shot. The hard shadow with the handle in the back of the glass is another nit to pick.
