The rings were on glass, and the photo angled underneath to keep it out of focus, but within a constant focal plane. A polarising filter was used to remove the reflections of the rings in the glass.

I then equalised the histogram, made the colour correction for the 500w tungstan floodlights used, and desaturated all but the yellows.

I sure wish I could spot edit to remove the remaining reflection highlights.

I very much like this photo. I started shooting my own wedding band, but I just couldn't find a perspective I liked. The DOF here is great, accentuates the theme. How did you get that angle on the background with the rings flat?

Like your setup with the rigns and background. Could have done with just a little more sharpness on the rings.

Excellent.
I think the title is a little long.. Maybe "Bands of Gold" :)
Still deserves a high vote.

Nice composition - I almost did the same for "One ring to bind them all"

Nice...very. Not crazy about the the background, or the glass they are sitting on. I do like this shot.

This is a really good setup shot. I love the DOF on the background unabtrusive, but you know it is a wedding shot. The rings really signify roundness and you captured much detail/reflections on them. The placement is good, I may have gone just a bit lower as to not cover up as much of the groom. I like how you laid the brides ring on the groom as just in the pic. Now to be nitpicky there seems to be some dust and noise in the lower left cornerand in the right corner the arm of the bride shows color where the rest fo the photo looks B&W. Pver all outstanding shot.9.

looks like a speck of dust on the glass the rings are on.... dosn'r spoil it for me and such a great idea to play with DOF that way

great idea. i love the story it tells with the image. a little strange to see the rings floating in the middle though. it'd be nice to see it anchored, or somehow reflected in the glass table(?).

What a great shot! I thought of doing something like this, but chose another subject instead. I'm glad, because my idea would not have stood a chance against your wonderful shot! I like the background image being blurred, and that it is in BW. Color in the background would have competed for attention with the rings. Actually, I do see a small amount of color in the bride's arm and at the left in the frame. I won't mark down the score for that, no sense in penalizing you for following the rules. The only constructive criticism I can think of is the composition. I like the rule of thirds, and I would like it if the rings were not centered vertically. That is a minor point, though, and I predict a high score for your shot this week. Great job!
