This was the re-edited version of my submission for 'Tribute'. It was a tribute to Rod Dresser. I really enjoy his work. I learned, just after submitting it, how to properly save images to avoid losing significant quality.

There were very few changes that were different than the original submission. I properly darkened the background. Before, I tried to clone everything out. This time I applied curves and adjusted brightness/contrast to get a black background. I also cropped this one closer, so I was able to make the actual flower a tad larger.

I think this would have scored higher if it had been my submission. :)

Overall Changes:
Curves
Brightness/Contrast
Very little Dodging/Burning
Greyscale
Sharpen
Crop
Resize

As for set-up:

I did this in my living room. I stole a T-shirt from my boyfriend, put it on a huge plastic lid from one of those big tubs. I taped the arms together behind it to get rid of the wrinkles. Then, I taped the flower to the side of a barstool (with electrical tape), and just started snapping. I wrapped a flashlight in a white pillowcase for some not-so-intense light, and held it on the flower. Each image I took, I changed where I pointed the flashlight.
My family thought I was nuts for a few days, because I had flowers taped all over the house, and t-shirts dangling from any surface that would hold electrical tape. The night before, I was in the living room jumping back and forth, turning the lights on and off, trying to take some shots with longer exposure. :)

Waaay better! Love the whites and tonal quality of this image. The artifacting is gone too.
